10/22/18 MSA Update from Mr. Hilburt

Parents,

1st quarter grades will close this week.  Please check your child's grades via the Parent Portal and contact teachers with any concerns as soon as possible.

A summary sheet of Museum Week and End-of-Year (EOY) trips is attached to this e-mail.  Please look at the page for your child's grade and review the trip listings so that you are aware of trip destinations, trip details, and due dates for payments.

The middle school fall dance is this Friday, October 26, and is sponsored by the Jenks Student Council.  Admission is $2 (for the DJ) and students are asked to bring donations for food/snacks based on the schedule below.  Please have your children drop off requested items to their homeroom teacher this week.      ~6th Grade:  2-liters of soda/juice      ~7th grade:  cups, plates, or napkins      ~8th grade:  bags of chips or pretzels A costume contest is being held on October 26 with the top 3 winners in each of four categories winning a free dress down day.  Categories are Scariest, Most Original/Creative, Funniest, and Group (2-5 people).  All costumes must be school appropriate and students who choose not to wear a costume may dress down for a $1 donation to the Jenks Student Council.

The MSA uniform policy does not allow hoodies or jackets to be worn in class and students are encouraged to wear either a blue or white sweater or wear a long-sleeve shirt underneath the navy blue polo shirt.  We are aware that students claim the 3rd floor is "cold" but now that the heat is turned on (and rising to the top floor) temperatures are often so warm in classrooms that teachers need to open windows.  Navy blue JS Jenks hoodies are permitted.

Representatives from Girls' High will be visiting the 8th grade girls this Thursday morning.

Friday, November 2nd, is an early dismissal day with students being dismissed at 12noon.

School is closed Tuesday, November 6, for Election Day and Monday, November 12, in observance of Veteran's Day.

Report Card conferences for the 1st quarter are scheduled for November 7th, 8th, and 9th.  Notices and a complete schedule will be sent home with students this Friday.

Thank you for the continued support of your child's education!

Mr. Hilburt
