Oct. 12, 2018 MSA Update from Mr. Hilburt

Parents,

Next week is Safety Week at Jenks and we have several drills scheduled for the school.  These are drills intended to practice our routines and protocols so that we are prepared for any emergency.

The middle school fall dance is Friday, October 26, and is sponsored by the Jenks Student Council.  Admission is $2 (for the DJ) and students are asked to bring donations for food/snacks based on the schedule below.  Please have your children drop off requested items to their homeroom teacher no earlier than Monday, October 22.      ~6th Grade:  2-liters of soda/juice      ~7th grade:  cups, plates, or napkins      ~8th grade:  bags of chips or pretzels A costume contest is being held on October 26 with the top 3 winners in each of four categories winning a free dress down day.  Categories are Scariest, Most Original/Creative, Funniest, and Group (2-5 people).  All costumes must be school appropriate and students who choose not to wear a costume may dress down for a $1 donation to the Jenks Student Council.

The High School Selection process ends at 5pm on November 2nd for 8th grade students.  Please contact Mrs. Watson if you have any questions on the process requirements.

The Education Support Ministry of the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church is hosting the E-Merge Rally for School Readiness on October 20th from 9:00 am-2:00pm. K-8th  graders will attend age appropriate workshops that focus on social media etiquette, study skills and mental health management. The workshops are followed by a resource fair featuring premier student support organizations. There will also be an available workshop for parents who choose to attend. This event is free but space is limited. Please register online at www.enontab.org. The church address is 2800 West Cheltenham Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19150.  A flyer for the event is attached to this e-mail.

The temperatures are forecast to be cooler next week.  Please note that hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed to be worn in class during class.  Students may wear a blue or white sweater or wear a shirt under their regular polo shirt.  The 3rd floor is typically warmer than the rest of the building so it is never truly cold in the rooms.

Thank you for the continued support of your child's education!
